Proportional-Integral Sliding Mode Controller Design for a Fin Actuation Mechanism

Proportional-Integral Sliding Mode Controller (PI-SMC) is designed with power rate reaching law in this study. The PI-SMC is applied to a Fin Actuation Mechanism for a range of aerodynamic load conditions. In order to analyze robustness of the proposed PI-SMC, classical PID controller is also used. Simulations are performed under different aerodynamic load conditions for both of the controllers and their results are compared. Simulation results show that the proposed PI-SMC controller has a better robustness property.
