Dynamic analysis of a current transformer during faults

Abstract A mathematical model has been developed for a current transformer to predict the transient performance with a complex burden consisting of inductance and resistance, taking core saturation into account. A typical 1200/5 A current transformer has been simulated with various maximum offset fault currents and the secondary current response has been computed for different values of burden angles with various values of burden impedance. The current transformer error has been calculated for the above conditions.
