Transient behavior research on the combined equipment of SMES-SFCL

A multi-function superconducting device is proposed in this paper, which can act as a fault current limiter and SMES to two unattached AC systems respectively and effectively. This combined equipment SMES-SFCL is mainly consisted of diodes, DC/AC converter, control circuit and a superconducting coil. The coil is made of Nb-Ti and the SMES is 150 kVA/0.3 MJ. The circuit topology is shown in the paper, and the simulation results made by PSCAD are presented. It turns out to be that the equipment can act as what we expected. Some problems needed to be considered carefully in the future research are discussed at the end of the paper.
