Workload Management for Workers on Irregular Shifts

This study constructs a model evaluating the amount of workers’ fatigue at an arbitrary point in time using a train driver’s job as an example to investigate its validity in order to manage the workload for workers on irregular shifts. The parameters for constructing this model were assumed rather subjectively, but the results show its usefulness for its objective of evaluating the amount of fatigue. A number of problems remain before this model can actually be applied. The use of this for duty rosters can, however, help to avoid an excessive workload.
