Newspapers Devote Far Less Coverage to County Government than to City Governance

c'Ounty government is the "stealth" institution when it comes to research about newspaper coverage, which usually focuses on municipal, state, national or international news. While such inattention may have been justified in the past a number of factors during the past few decades have increased the importance of county government but have not increased that institution's visibility in the traditional media.
