RFID-Based Security Authentication System Based on a Novel Face-Recognition Structure

We proposed an embedded face recognition authentication system with a novel structure, which consists of the RFID card used to store the face eigen information and the face recognition unit based on S3C6410. The hardware was designed and described, and the recognition algorithm was presented thoroughly. With the fabricated system, experiments were carried out for studying the authentication performances including the accuracy and response time. The results exhibits that when the maximum eigen vector number is taken as 30, the authentication accuracy can be up to 86.5 %, and the response time for the recognition process is only about 57 ms. Comparisons between the system based on the proposed novel authentication structure and the system based on database reveals that the response time is greatly shortened with a similar authentication accuracy.
