To exploit NC machine sufficiently,and to reasonably select milling parameters,applying modern theory of milling and optimization technique,considering many cutting constraints such as equipment,workpiece and tool,the mathematical model on machining efficiency and cost was established.The optimization of milling parameters was implemented based on improved genetic algorithm(GA)combined with local optimization function.A platform for reasonable selection of milling parameters was developed which was supported by a engineering database.The NC milling example proves the system is more efficient for improving surface quality and production efficiency,and reducing produce cost.
