Quality Requirements for Multimedia Network Services

There will be quality requirements posed on network transfers of multimedia information. They stem from inherent timing requirements of temporally sampled signals, and from tolerance levels given by the use of the transfers. Loss, errors and delay above these levels may impede the information exchange between users and, if aggravated, it may eventually lead them to reject the service. This paper is a review of the quality requirements for multimedia network services and some means of ensuring them.
