Enhanced levels of technology critical metals in mine waters : the case of the 2 Poderosa sulfide mine ( SW Spain ) 3

11 Natural weathering of rocks may lead to increasing levels of technology critical elements (TCEs) 12 in the environment. Anthropogenic activities can noticeably boost these TCEs release rates. We 13 investigated TCEs release in acid mine drainage outflows from an underground sulfide mine in 14 SW Spain, reporting concentrations some orders of magnitude higher than those observed in 15 natural waters. Findings may contribute to improve the knowledge on TCEs mobility in different 16 geological settings.
