Multirate digital filters used for timing recovery in digital receivers

Multirate digital filters are employed in DSP based receivers to change samples of an asynchronous input data stream to samples of a synchronous output data stream. This process is managed by controlling the phase offset of a concurrent up and down sampling operation in a polyphase filter bank or by controlling the phase of a down sampling polyphase filter operating on an over sampled input time series.
