On-line electrogoniometric gait analysis.

Abstract To process and evaluate the enormous quantity of measured gait parameters a processor computer has to be applied. Prompt access of the measurement is very important when optimizing the parameters of multichannel functional electrical stimulation orthoses applied to hemiplegic patients. Joint angles of both legs were measured by the electrogoniometric system. Heel-on and toe-off moments were registered by two switches on each shoe sole. The computer program recognizes these moments in the order which is characteristic for human gait. The output parameters of the program are step length, stride and step duration, and the stance phase for each step. Comparison of the right and left leg gait parameters gives an estimate of patient's gait pattern.
