Dynamic axial crushing tests were carried out on thin-walled and spot-welded structures made of SCP1 cold rolled sheet. The impact tests were conducted at the velocity that is able to fully collapse members with a crosshead mass of 40㎏ in order to investigate the crush history, the energy absorption and displacement load. Post-test collapse modes developed in the sections and the energy absorbing characteristics were analyzed and compared respectively. In particular, this study focuses on evaluating the mean collapse load, the main factor, which affects the crush behaviour of impact test. Based on the experiment results, the best energy absorber will be determined.
