Space-time 2D RAKE receiver performance analysis in WCDMA system

The performance of space-time 2D RAKE receiver at base stations of WCDMA system with a smart antenna is analyzed. Based on the models of WCDMA unlink channel and signal, the expression of output bit error rate (BER) is derived. A novel channel parameter estimation method based on weighed least square (WLS) is presented in this paper. This method employs the instantaneously estimated channel parameter of two neighboring slot pilots to interpolate on a second order curse based on weighed least square, and then channel parameter of data can be attained. The simulation results reveal that WLS method can track and estimate channel, space-time 2D RAKE receiver with WLS method given in this paper can decrease greatly bit error rate and work well even in the case of high mobile speed. The calculation of WLS method is not so complex that it can estimate channel real-timely, and be implemented easily in practice.
