According to the present invention, provided are a control method and device capable of determining the location of a mobile terminal relative to a display device by using short-range wireless communication. A method for controlling a display device having a plurality of short-range wireless communication modules comprises the steps of: performing short-range wireless communication with a mobile terminal through short-range wireless communication modules provided in the display device; identifying a short-range wireless communication module, which performs short-range wireless communication with the mobile terminal, among the short-range wireless communication modules; determining the location of the mobile terminal relative to the display device according to the identified result; and determining a position on the screen of the display device to display data according to the relative location, and displaying the data on the screen of the display device according to the determined position.
