Texture descriptors for multi-resolution image segmentation

Natural texture in outdoor scenes readily suggests the use of texture descriptors for performing image processing tasks. Previous work on image segmentation has been mainly concerned with monochromatic images, at a single scale. The work presented here describes the use of texture descriptors, computed at multiple resolutions, for segmenting colour images of outdoor scenes. An edge-based segmentation of the spatial map for each texture descriptor is computed using perceptual grouping. >
