Abstract Optical discs provide an easy, economical, flexible, and convenient way to transfer data between locations and machines. While many commercial software programs make the necessary decisions for the user, an understanding of the various formats and their details can lead to a greater appreciation of the medium, improve decisions on the use of optical discs, and aid the user in troubleshooting and problems in either the making of discs or in any incompatibility problems.
