A new optical stream cipher for security applications was proposed.The stream ciphers security is enhanced bu using hybrid additive cellular automata(CA).The number of CA arrays can be the pixels on the spatial light modulator(SLM),and a thresholding device unit realizes the CA rules.This system suited for both hybrid optoelectronic and alloptical implementation.Simulation results show that when use a CCD with 480×640 elements,the speed of encryption is to 144 K bits/s,and the sequence length is 2N-1,where N is the initial number of cells.The direct cryptanalysis requires an exponentially growing amount of computational resources.
