Warming Up To Pellet Stoves

Over the last century, natural gas, fuel oil, and electric energy have largely displaced wood and coal for on-site space heating of buildings. The overall scale of residential and commercial space heating is too great and the need for easy and clean burning fuels is too strong for the primitive biomass fuel source, wood, to ever supply the majority of the energy needed for building space heating. Nevertheless, wood continues to supply a portion of the energy for space heating in the United States, with a higher proportion in rural areas versus urban areas.
