Shaping of PWM converter admittance with outer power control loop

In this paper, a guide for the admittance shaping is introduced for PWM converters tied to the grid using outer power control loop. To obtain intuitive tuning factor, the design method for the power control loop is proposed. The proposed design method could be applied to the power control of PWM converter regardless of system capacity and grid voltage. Instead of directly varying proportional or integral gain of the controller, the admittance can be shaped by the pole or zero placement of the transfer function of the power controller. The admittance shaping is analyzed by computer simulation. Furthermore, the step response of the system with the proposed controller is tested by computer simulation and the performance of the design has been verified by the hardware experiment.
