Minimal incidence of chronic and neuropathic postthoracotomy pain after anteroaxillary thoracotomy with consequent systemic pain therapy.

A number of anaesthetists felt that national guidelines on the practice of tracheal tube removal following unsuccessful resuscitation are needed. The Difficult Airway Society has produced an extubation guideline for the management of patients with low and high risk of complications during extubation. A plan incorporated in the Difficult Airway Society extubation guidelines may provide a possible solution.
