The existing development of libraries and informa tion centres in Bahrain in terms of collections, library man power and the national information policy are provided as a setting to discuss the impact that the Gulf War has had on the regional growth of information and library services The re gional information flow prior to and after the Gulf War is discussed to highlight the impact upon researchers, and re search generation. Some suggestions and recommendations are made to focus on collection development, interlibrary lending, and the benefit that would accrue from the establish ment of national libraries in the large Gulf States to dissemi nate national publication information and standardised Ara bic cataloguing.
