Natural Gas Supply and Demand Prediction for 2015-Advices and Ideas for 12th Five Year Plan

Increasing natural gas supply is the most realistic and powerful way to reach the goal of energy supply in 12 th Five Year Plan. According to prediction, China ’ s gas consumption will be 2500×10 8 m 3 by 2015 with total energy consumption reaching 40×10 8 tce or 42×10 8 tce, and proportion of natural gas in total primary energy reaching 8.3 percent or 8.0 percent. Among them, domestic supplies will be around 1500×10 8 m 3 and gas imports will be around 1000 × 10 8 m 3 . To achieve this goal, China should make great efforts to keep continuous and rapid growth of unconventional gas production, diversify supply sources, enhance pipeline gas and LNG imports, accelerate infrastructure facilities co-building along the gas industry system integrating upstream, mid-stream and downstream sectors and promote marketization mechanism reform.
