ARTEMIS : PROVIDING LIVE COURSE FOR DISTANT LEARNING

This paper proposes a new distant learning system named Artemis. Artemis provides not only a virtual teleclassroom in which instructors and students can meet and hold a lecture, but also novel interactive means for users. All participants of the tele-classroom share a media board, on which teaching materials are shown. Speakers can use tele-pointer tool to grip listeners’ attention to a specific portion of the media board and create graphic, text or video annotations with annotation tools. Further, the process of the lecture can also be recorded and published as a courseware, which can be played back to students for self-learning.
