Integrating IT into a South African health sciences curriculum

We describe the introduction of an IT curriculum to support a new health sciences curriculum introduced by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town (UCT). By combining international and local research with an awareness of the South African context, problems of infrastructure, student needs, attitudes, and budget were identified and solved. We also detail two specific examples to illustrate the mechanisms of the IT curriculum.
