Mixed-line-rate (MLR) optical network design considering heterogeneous fiber dispersion maps

We present an approach to design MLR optical backbone networks with various fiber dispersion maps. We find that heterogeneous dispersion maps in future can outperform today's homogeneous dispersion maps in terms of network cost.
