Ride comfort enhancement and energy efficiency using electric active stabiliser system

This paper introduces the concept of a road input control system to coexist superior ride comfort performance with driving stability using an electric active stabiliser system. The specific road input control system studied, extends the skyhook theory in the roll direction to offer both ride comfort and driving stability. The predictions of performance achieved by this method have been confirmed through actual vehicle tests to offer superior ride comfort and tracing performance. Moreover, consumed power of the road input control was 7–25% of conventional steering input control because of the efficiency of the regenerated power in the active stabiliser system.
