Distributed Registration Extension to Mobile-IP

Mobile-IP (MIP) is a protocol developed by IETF Mobile-IP working group for providing transparent IP support to mobile hosts in a large internetwork such as the Internet. In this paper, we propose two new features to the base MIP protocol, namely (i) separation of registration and forwarding services, and (ii) provision of different types of registrations. Our new features are introduced such that the mobile nodes and mobility agents supporting our new features can interoperate with the mobiles/mobility agents supporting the base protocol.
