Effects of fiber impairments on signal coding orthogonality over optical CDMA transmissions

Optical signal transmission is impacted by the inherent nonlinear fiber impairments, like SPM, XPM, and FWM, etc. In this paper, we utilize noniterative and asymmetric split-step Fourier method (SSFM) to illustrate signals degradation over optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) transmissions. BER performance due to reduced coding orthogonality caused by fiber impairments is evaluated over a spectral-amplitude-coding scheme of OCDMA network.
