Generally, there exists a voltage distortion or nonlinear voltage gain exists between the reference and output voltages in a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) voltage-sourceinverter (VSI). Voltage distortion varies with the operating conditions such as the temperature, DC bus voltage, and phase current level. Also this voltage distortion affects the machine current distortion, torque pulsations, and degradation of control performance. In this paper, the voltage distortion in a PWM VSI is analyzed and a new current
control method with on-line compensation of this voltage distortion is proposed based on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS). The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed current controller with adaptive compensation of voltage distortion.
