Transmission clutch control using a modeling inertia pauschalisierten

A vehicle drive train comprising an engine, a transmission, a torque converter assembly and a controller. The controller comprises pauschalisierte models inertia of the drive train and instructions for executing a clutch-to-clutch shifting action using these models. The models jointly reduce powertrain dynamics on two or three degrees of freedom. The controller performs a process to estimate clutch torques using the models. The models may include a first primary inertia block which describes the engine inertia and the inertia of a torque converter pump wheel, and a second primary inertia model that describes include the inertia of the turbine wheel and the transmission as it is reflected from the input member. The second primary inertial model comprises models of inertia for any fixed gear state, and each possible shift maneuver. The controller initiates a required output torque value as a control target value using the pauschalisierten inertia models and a requested input torque, and uses the estimated clutch torque to reach the target value.
