Research on fault traveling wave ranging based on SVD theory

With the expansion of the grid scale, fault location for transmission lines put forward higher requirements. In this paper, the fault current as the research object, according to the singularity of the fault current, the iterative SVD decomposition method is adopted to reduce the noise of the fault current traveling wave, and the singular points of the fault current are detected by the dichotomy recursive SVD. Based on the analysis of the principle of the initial traveling wave and the reflected wave of the fault point, a method to eliminate the error caused by the uncertainty of the wave velocity is put forward. The correctness of the method is verified by PSCAD simulation.
