Based on the concept of adjustable mechanisms,a new design method for improving comprehensive characteristics of hybrid mechanisms was presented.The main point of this method is to let one link of hybrid mechanism adjustable.By optimizing the length of adjustable link together with the input speed function of the control motor,the optimum output characteristics can be obtained at low consumption of the driving torque.The design procedure of hybrid mechanisms with an adjustable link was developed.A seven-bar hybrid mechanism was taken as an example to illustrate this procedure.ADAMS software was used as a tool for the case study.The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method under different operating conditions.
