Thirty Years On: Psychiatric Services in the United Arab Emirates

Objective: To outline some aspects of the psychiatric services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Conclusions: In its short existence, UAE has made significant strides in all aspects and spheres of life, including the delivery of mental health services. Following brief overview of the country's history and geography, the article considers psychiatric services in UAE, workforce issues, academic psychiatry, and moves to developing a national mental health program.
