Through the lenses of libraries' current outsourcing initiatives, the chapter opens a conversation on library core expertise for collection services. Collection curation, enrichment, and preservation are described as essential skills, which are explained here in the context of the collection services supply chain. Throughout the ongoing conversation, the chapter examines assumptions, functions, practices, tasks, and end goals of supporting units along the supply chain. The purpose of the chapter is to provide some new thinkings on libraries' unique contributions to the knowledge industry and reevaluate their current investments in collection services and their process priorities.
