In the W-CDMA mobile communication up-link, a method for achieving the robust beamforming by orthogonal pilot symbol sequence for the adaptive antenna of the base station is proposed. Computer simulation demonstrates that channel estimation accuracy is improved, even if long random sequence is not used for the spread code, and that communication capacity in the frequency selective fading environment increases.
