A method of management of the electrical power supply in a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a method for management of the electric power supply in a motor vehicle with a combustion engine, wherein the state of charge of a battery that can provide at least the power to starter motor, ignition and lighting, as a discrete size (LowSOCFlag) is detected and characterized, indicating if the current state of charge is below or above a calibrated threshold value (LowSOCThresh). When the discrete size displays (S1), that the current state of charge is below the calibrated threshold, charging of the battery by using a relatively high voltage (Setpoint1) over a predetermined period is performed such that all cells of the battery are loaded evenly and completely (S7-S13). When the discrete size indicating that the current state of charge is above the calibrated threshold value, are recognized in dependence on a current energy conversion efficiency of the powertrain as a further discrete size (LowEffFlag) and is characterized, different temperature-dependent voltage setting points (Setpoint0, Setpoint1 .. .) of a generator set in the vehicle (S2-S6).
