Overview and Progressive Finite Element Analysis of Pullout Tests

In this paper, arguments and llustrations on the interpretation of some analytical and experimental investigations are focused to put the current status of the pullout test method into perspective. First, the pullut test procedure and a summary of experimental findings are briefly presented. Subsequently, the available analytical studies are evaluated in an effort to emphasize the significance of the reported studies. Finally, the behavior of concrete subjected to a pullout force based on a nonlinear finite element analysis using a general purpose, plastic-fracture finite element computer code is described.
