Phase Effect on Polarization Transforming Fiber

By Jones calculus of retardance, the Jones vector is calculated along the polarization transforming fiber component produced by variably spun birefringence fiber. It is the first time to consider the phase effect on the evolution of polarization along this fiber component. Both extinction ratio and direction angle of polarization are calculated to give out a whole evolution history from linear polarization light at slow spun end into circular polarization light at fast spun end, and visa versa. The Influence of phase difference is discussed on the polarization transforming performance, providing further reference for design and test of the PTF component.
