A Method for Passenger Level of Service Estimation at the Airport Landside

This paper presents a conception of the method based on a logistic support model relating to the functioning of a handling agent at the airport. The scope of the model includes passengers at the air terminal in the landside zone. The presented model can be used to perform an assessment of the system in check-in and security control subsystems. The method is designed to predict system-related assessment from the passenger’s point of view. Passenger assessment significantly translates into profits made by airports through non-aviation activity. Hence, this is a key assessment factor used to select the appropriate number of resources needed to perform passenger service, depending on the predefined flight schedule. The paper proposes the use of a hybrid of two methods: computer simulation and multiple regression. The research being carried out worldwide is focused on the capacity of systems by analysing subsequent processes of passenger service as independent systems. This paper takes into account the relationships between check-in and security control systems, which affects the total assessment of passenger service in the landside zone. The proposed model may be applied to any airport featuring a centralised structure of the security control system and check-in service performed at basic desks with a process operator.
