Despair in the American Heartland? A Focus on Rural Health.

An introduction is presented that discusses issue articles on rural health in the U.S., noting articles on topics including early deaths among rural white Americans, the relation of falling life expectancy in some areas to voting patters in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and racial health inequities negatively impacting African Americans.
