A novel bacteria classification scheme based on microscopic image analysis

A novel image of bacteria classification scheme is presented. ITSMM is proposed for the edge detection of bacteria images, which effectively remove or restrain noise and get clear edges of microscopic image by optimizing segmentation threshold and changing the order of edge detection. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimensionality of original features extracted from the images and BP network is used to learn to classify the images. The proposed method is tested with NMCR databases, experimental results demonstrate the presented image classification scheme is effective.
