P&O Control of a Photovoltaic Pumping System to Efficiency Improvement using PSIM

Solar pump installed along the sun is one of the most economically viable photovoltaic applications in remote areas, because the photovoltaic energy is used directly from photovoltaic panels without conversion or storage. The particularity of the pump system installed, that their characteristics (flow rate, head, power, rotation speed) depends on solar irradiations which varies over the days and seasons of the year. Pumps installed in this system have to be checked and controlled instantly to keep to them working with the best efficiency. In this work, we used the P& O MPPT control, which is one the most MPPT control technics commonly used to track the maximum power point of a photovoltaic (PV) system. The simulation of the whole system has been performed by PSIM software. The obtained results show in real time the behavior of the pumping system under different irradiation and conditions and the amount of water delivered.
