Study on fluid properties of mine air curtain based on CFD

With the theoretical basis of aerodynamics, Pro/ E software was applied to build 3D mode of the air supply unit for mine air curtain. FLUENT software was applied to conduct 3D numerical simulation for the incompressible turbulent flow fields in the air supply unit based on SIMPLE arithmetic and standardκ -e turbulent model, and flow characteristics of air inside the air supply unit, distribution of outlet velocity and flow resistance loss were analyzed. The study results indicated that the air flow turbulence and whirlpool inside the optimized air supply unit remarkably decreased compared with traditional one, the air flow loss reduced by 31.7%, and uniformity of outlet velocity improved. The study provided theoretical references for further improving operation efficiency of the mine air curtain.
