The improved design of a loop vehicle detector

A vehicle detector plays an important role in collecting traffic data for an intelligent traffic system(ITS).The loop vehicle detector is widely used owing to its advantages of high performance-price ratio,good adaptability and stability.This paper presents the improved design of a loop vehicle detector based on DSP,which can remedy the limitations of current detectors on the market that there are no storage devices available for detected data and that the detection error rate is high.The experimental results show that the improved design is not only stable in performance,but also effective in reducing the detection error rate.
