Using Virtual Reality to Understand Complex Metabolic Networks

Metabolic networks combine metabolism and regulation. These complex networks are difficult to understand and visualize due to the diverse types of information that need to be represented. Threedimensional graph visualization coupled with visualization of the physical structure of a cell help create a novel integrated information workspace for the study of metabolic networks. This paper shows how biologists can interact with a virtual reality representation to get a more complete view of network behavior.
