Method for generating and transmitting channel quality indicator based on adjacent band selection scheme

A method for generating and transmitting a channel quality indicator based on an adjacent band selection scheme is provided to reduce the amount of fed back channel quality information and the amount of location information of a frequency band which corresponds to the channel quality information in a mobile communication system. One or more sub bands are selected in consideration of each channel quality of the whole sub bands. Sub bands adjacent to the selected sub bands are additionally selected. The number of additionally selected sub bands is in proportion to the whole system bandwidth or the frequency bandwidth assigned to user equipment. A channel quality indicator corresponding to a sub band is generated.
