Representation of Case Memory for Structural Design

One of the major issues to be addressed in the application of case-based reasoning to structural design is the representation of design projects in case memory. The content of the information in a structural design case depends on how cases are retrieved and whether case adaptation will be automated. Also important in determining the content is a consideration of what information is available or can be inferred. This paper presents alternatives for the content, representation, and organization of structural design cases for use in a case-based reasoning system.
