Study on Governor Intelligent Starting Strategy of Pumped Storage Units

Using the common deviation-based PID control strategy,the pumped storage unit is not able to obtain a favorable starting performance under various heads. This paper proposes a governor intelligent starting strategy for the pumped storage unit. For the control objective of the starting process,the ratio between the unit speed differential and the speed deviation is considered as a constant and a closed loop control mode is adopted,and the expectation characteristic of the rotational speed rise is set to the frequency command. In this way,the dynamic process of the unit speed variation is compulsively changed into a process changing in accordance with the exponential decay and the rapid and smooth starting-up of the pumped storage unit and connecting with the power grid can be realized.
