29. A New Learning Environment Instrument for Post-Secondary Distance Education: The DELES

Scott Walker Our Lady of the Lake University This paper presents the development of a psychosocial learning environments instrument for post-secondary distance education designed to identify associations between the environment and student attitudes, and to describe student and instructor perceptions of the learning environment. Reliability and validity analyses were conducted on 680 responses, followed by an analysis of the association between learning environment scales and a scale of attitude. Validation resulted in a seven scale, 42-item Distance Education Learning Environments Survey (DELES).
