Drags on several polygon cylinders

Abstract Predicted wind load data for the structural calculations of 43 and 48 meters long lighting columns were needed. Column cross sectional shape chosen was 16 sided polygon and no drag coefficients were available from the literature. Wind tunnel measurements were carried out to determine drag coefficients of the 16 sided polygon and - for comparison - of 4, 12 sided polygon and circular cylinders. Balance and pressure measurements were made parallel with and Re-number dependence was also investigated within limited range.
